Corruption

Power Corrupts and Absolute power corrupts Absolutely - Lord Acton
Corruption in India or for that matter newhere in the world is like the Monster Hydra (Greek Mytho : monster with nine heads; when struck off each head was replaced by two new ones)
At this point it calls for some Herculean efforts by all the sections of the society to come forward and do something. The whole problem is explained very clearly ( although a little technically ) in The Hindu :
The reason i've put this is up is not becos corrution was one of the topics in the essay at TISS last year, but becos it is with reduction in corruption that we shall see some real fast development across all the sections of the society.

the magic of harry potter

Here is another newspaper, The Times of India (aka TOI), over the years to carter 2 a larger

section of society it has crossed all limits in journalism ( thts n opinion ) has gone more catchy,

more gossip oriented, more colour, more fuss, more creative ads, just about more of everything.

Wht makes this newspaper tick 4 me is the fact the Edit is still good, the view counterview rocks, the speaking tree is amazing ( u cant imagine how much it can speak ) infct the columnist r still one's i look to.

And above all to bring out something different everytime.

Take this article for example.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1335238.cms

The best part about the whole article and the HP series in general is summed up in the last 3rd para.

"Rowling subtly communicates profound messages on concepts such as

fear (fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself),

truth (the truth is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution),

friendship and loyalty (it takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends) and

one of the most profound messages on

love (to have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection forever)."

I know i've named the blog opinion on some serious stuff, but for a die hard fan like me HP is indeed as serious a topic as the sacking of Dada from the team.

the hindu

If u wanna build opinions read, and read good stuff which wud provide some food for thought.

Take for example "India leading national daily, "The Hindu"

a must read for aspiring IAS, wannabe MBA's and obv the Crossword lovers.

The opinions are sometimes biased ( this again is a biased opinion ), but i think when given one side, u can look at the other side in a far rational manner. And frankly thts the only reason I love Hindu.

Check out this article, i mean so very true in todays Indian Context and shows why US today produces more Nobel Laureate than India which the world recognises has far more Sharp Indiviuals.
